Lena dress

Last week whilst I was down in London, my boyfriend surprised me with a bag full of treats from Monki as a gift for our 3 year anniversary. Inside was this amazing denim effect dress, which I absolutely LOVE! He did really well seeing as he's never shopped for clothes for me before and I'm an incredibly fussy buyer, much to the annoyance of him when he gets dragged around Manchester or London on my shopping trips!

The dress has this imitation denim feel, it's super stretchy and it's called the 'Lena' dress. At £20 it's a fabulous buy! I think it's perfect for these days coming up to summer, where the sun is out but there's still a chilly breeze about! It's not too heavy or rigid like real denim, it's elasticicity provides a lot of movement! I popped on a pair of Monki sunglasses and some boots which I picked up in the sale from Topshop in the Trafford Centre to complete the look with this dress and I've got to say this outfit feels best when accessories are kept to a minimum!

If you don't live in London and are looking for a new brand to give a go, I'd definitely suggest trying Monki, online or via ASOS. The clothes are all well affordable, and good value for money too as well as being super stylish!

Lilac jumpers

OKAY! So it's been a month since my last post, I'm a newbie at this and I'm already slacking! Shocking, but I'm back with new stuff to show! I'm really loving block colours at the moment, and with it being Spring, I've started to source my obvious pastel colours. I bought this gorgeous Lilac Bobble Jumper by Boutique from Topshop. It has this soft bobble effect all over, and super long sleeves (I'm scared of getting them messy so I always roll them up). The fit of the jumper is really good! It's described as being a slouchy jumper, slouchy to me is oversized and comfy, so I bought my size and true to form it is slightly oversized. Shock horror I'm wearing something oversized but that's just my style, I've never been into wearing revealing clothes it's just not my thing, I tend to go for comfort clothing but I am planning on switching my style up a bit so watch this space!

Next up is my beloved Mini-Wendy bag from New Look. New Look is really starting to impress me as of late, their prices are affordable and they have some really nice things out at the minute, they're really stepping up with their shoe game too! I'd been looking for a smaller bag for quite a while but have been too scared to make the change from a huge shopper to a smaller over the shoulder bag, I'm not dainty in any way and was worried it would make me look HUGE. I found this little beauty in New Look one day for £15.99 and said to myself if it's still there in a week I'll buy it, as I'm trying my hardest to budget (but failing miserably). I've been using this bag pretty much everyday, it's so handy not having to carry a big bag around with you, but this little bag ain't that handy when you have to take your packed lunch in to work! I really love the colour of the bag, the pictures don't do it justice, but I have a pic on my Instagram (@megangracebass) which shows how vivid the colour of it is!

Cardigans

For a good few weeks now I've had my eye on quite a few oversized cardigans and whilst browsing on Monki.com I found the perfect one! The Zosia knitted cardigan is £40, and comes in two colours; grey cloud melange, and old ice white.

I was instantly drawn to the grey cloud melange colour, as it's more my thing and grey is probably one of my favourite colours! My boyfriend was nice enough to buy this for me as an early Valentine's day treat when I was down in London last week. We took a trip to Carnaby Street and found the cardigan which was conveniently right infront of me as we walked into the store. Don't get me wrong I love ordering things online but it's always nicer when you can just walk into a store and get what you want on the spot!

The cardigan is super soft and really cosy, perfect for keeping warm on cold windy days like the day my boyfriend took these outfit pics of me!
I decided to wear my cardigan with my Jamie jeans from Topshop in a bluey grey colour and just a grey oversized tee from ASOS.

I finished the outfit with a pair of chunky boots from New Look, which are super comfortable too! They're sort of like Vagabond dupes but for a fraction of the price and at £24.99 I've got nothing to complain about! I love the chunky base of the boots and the heel is pretty sturdy! The upper is soft as well so there was no uncomfortable wearing in of the boots.

If you haven't already, then I'd say deffo invest in one of these, it's still pretty cold outside and you can always layer your cardigan under a long coat to stay extra toasty!

Oversized boyfriend coat

So the evenings are slowly getting lighter, but it's not getting any warmer as of yet, this means I will not be parting with my oversized boyfriend coat anytime soon! Originally £98 from Topshop, I waited until it went into the sales at £45 and got it even cheaper than that with my staff discount!

Without a doubt it's been one of my best winter buys, pink has been everywhere this A/W and this coat is an amazing shade of pink, definitely a statement item.
I love to wear darker colours when I'm wearing this coat, so greys, blacks, dark acid wash items.

The colour of the coat is enough to make the outfit pop so whatever you wear with it can be plain. I usually wear my Joni jeans and an oversized tee to keep the boyfriend look going, today I've wore it with minimal accessories and some leopard print slip ons, nice casual look that's also very comfortable.

The tee is from Monki, which is quickly becoming one of my favourite places to shop, there’s only one store in England though so I love to go and have a good browse whenever I’m in London.

MOTO Hayden Jeans - new in this week on topshop.com

For a long time now, Topshop have given us just 3 styles of jeans, Leigh, Baxter and Jamie (my personal favourite).

Last summer we were introduced to the MOM jean, Topshop’s version of the vintage high waisted Levi’s and theJoni jean which was and still is highly popular. Now, we’ve been introduced to the Hayden jean.

Brought to us in the last couple of weeks, maybe even less than that, the Hayden jean looks set to be on the list of staples for SS14.
On topshop.com they’re described as “authentic loose fit boyfriend jean with rip and repair detail”.
I love the fit of the jean, it’s something totally different for me. Being a size 14, I find it difficult to find comfortable fitting jeans as a lot of them just don’t fit right on me, I always have to stick with high waisted jeans to fit my bum in (I hate nothing more than seeing people’s bum cracks so wouldn’t dare expose mine to the public!) so Jamie jeans and Joni jeans have always been my favourites, Jamie jeans for the ankle grazer factor and Joni jeans for the super skinny jean factor.
I tried the bleach extracted Hayden jeans on at the Trafford centre and have to say I was amazed with how they sat on my hips. They’re lower than what I’m used to but weren’t super low rise so covered me nicely. The have a nice baggy feel that went hand in hand so to speak with my slip ons. I love the scruffy look of them too! For £42 they’re a must have and with my discount they’re definitely being bought in the near future…
